Ingredients

  • 1 cup white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the red onions using a sharp knife or mandoline for even cuts.
  2. In a saucepan, combine equal parts white vinegar and water. Add sugar and salt, then heat over medium until dissolved.
  3. Place the sliced onions into clean glass jars. For added flavor, include any optional spices you desire.
  4. Pour the hot brine over the onions in the jars until they are fully submerged.
