- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3–4 tbsp ice water
- 3 cups fresh apples, peeled and sliced (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and granulated sugar.
- 2. Add cold cubed unsalted butter and blend using your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3. Gradually drizzle in ice water while mixing until the dough holds together.
- 4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- 5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 6. In a medium bowl, toss fresh apple slices with granulated sugar and cinnamon until well-coated.
- 7. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a rough circle about 12 inches in diameter.
- 8. Transfer the rolled dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 9. Pile the apple mixture in the center, leaving about two inches around the edges.
- 10. Fold the edges over the apples, leaving some exposed.
- 11. Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- 12. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
