- 12 lasagna noodles (traditional or no-boil)
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb lean ground beef (or turkey)
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions if using traditional noodles. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and season with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and chopped basil. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Lay down three noodles side by side.
- Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over them, followed by more meat sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
- Repeat layers until you reach the top.
- Finish with one last layer of noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
