  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or traditional)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 2 cups whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; let simmer while preparing other components.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Place three noodles over the sauce.
  7. Add half of the ricotta mixture followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat with more meat sauce and noodles until all ingredients are used.
  9. Finish with remaining meat sauce and sprinkle generously with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  10. Cover the baking dish with foil—ensuring it doesn't touch the cheese—and bake for about 25 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  12. Let cool for about ten minutes before slicing to maintain beautiful layers.
