Ingredients
Scale
- 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or traditional)
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups whole milk ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; let simmer while preparing other components.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
- Place three noodles over the sauce.
- Add half of the ricotta mixture followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat with more meat sauce and noodles until all ingredients are used.
- Finish with remaining meat sauce and sprinkle generously with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil—ensuring it doesn't touch the cheese—and bake for about 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for about ten minutes before slicing to maintain beautiful layers.
- Serve warm with garlic bread for an unforgettable meal experience.
