Description

Cheesy scalloped potatoes are a comforting classic featuring tender layers of potatoes enveloped in rich, creamy cheese. Perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for greasing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Thinly slice the peeled potatoes to about an eighth of an inch thick for even cooking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Place half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Pour over half of the creamy sauce and sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on top. Repeat with another layer of potatoes, sauce, and cheese.
  5. In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle this mixture over the top layer of cheese for added texture.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil for the first half-hour to retain moisture. Remove the foil and bake for an additional hour or until golden brown and bubbly.
