Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
- 1/2 cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick. Place it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread an even layer of basil pesto over the puff pastry, leaving about half an inch from the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the pesto layer.
- Carefully place another sheet of puff pastry over the cheese layer. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut out a tree shape with branches, keeping scraps for mini pastries.
- In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the top of the pastry with this mixture for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
