Description

This delightful Basil Pesto Cheesy Puff Pastry Christmas Tree is a festive and easy-to-make centerpiece that will impress your guests with its beautiful presentation and delicious flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick. Place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Spread an even layer of basil pesto over the puff pastry, leaving about half an inch from the edges.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the pesto layer.
  5. Carefully place another sheet of puff pastry over the cheese layer. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut out a tree shape with branches, keeping scraps for mini pastries.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the top of the pastry with this mixture for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
