Description

Indulge in the delightful contrast of rich chocolate and creamy vanilla layers, creating a stunning dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, melted butter, and milk. Mix well.
  4. Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide batter into two bowls. Keep one as chocolate batter and add more milk and vanilla extract to the other, mixing until smooth.
  6. Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool completely.
  7. In a large bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
  8. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fluffy. Add a splash of milk if needed for consistency.
  9. Place one chocolate layer on a serving plate and spread frosting on top before adding the second layer (the white cake).
  10. Coat the entire cake with remaining frosting for an elegant finish.
