Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- Add eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about two minutes until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and gently tap each pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in their pans for about ten minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
- While the cakes cool completely, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Place one layer of cake on your serving platter. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the sides and top with any remaining frosting.
