Description

Indulge in the comfort of creamy Swiss chard gratin, a delightful dish featuring layers of tender chard, rich cheese, and a crispy topping that will warm your heart.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Swiss chard, chopped (about 1 large bunch)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese (Gruyère or mozzarella)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse the Swiss chard thoroughly and chop it into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about one minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped Swiss chard to the skillet and cook until wilted, approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and stir in half of the grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Heat through without boiling.
  6. Transfer the chard mixture into a greased baking dish.
  7. Combine fresh breadcrumbs with the remaining grated cheese; sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the chard.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
